Similarly the same to Cambodia, Cambodia's real rate of human development has increased for the past 13 years, where it started at 0.466% in 2000 and increased to 0.548. Another similarity is the growth of expenditure on GDP for the future (years 2015-16). What difference can be identified between China and Cambodia in terms of Economy?

Fig.1  Economic Growth Graph Comparison between Cambodia and China.

This graph shows the economic growth of China and Cambodia for the past 12 years. As it can be seen, the slope that is coloured red represents Cambodia meanwhile the slope that is coloured blue is China. By looking at the graph, it is determined that China has rapid economic growth in comparison to Cambodia. The best year for China in Economic Growth was during the year 2007 at 14.16% rate of real GDP, meanwhile the best year for Cambodia in Economic Growth is during 2005, with 13.25% rate of real GDP. However, Cambodia had an atrocious and unacceptable year in 2009, where the rate of real GDP has decreased from 6.69% in 2008 to 0.09% rate of real GDP. Similarly the same, China's economic growth has fallen during the years 2008 (9.63%), 2009 (9.21%), and 2012 (7.65%), however, the difference is that Cambodia's economic growth had never fallen to 0% rate of real GDP. The growth of both countries depend on their growth in the following:
  • GDP Per Capita
  • Inflation (Cambodia with higher inflation for the past 12 years reaching 25% increase of inflation change in 2008, China's biggest change only 5.9%)
  • Capital Investment (China has more capital investment with highest % of 48.24%, meanwhile Cambodia highest % is 21.36 in 2009)
  • Human Development (China, 0.719% in 2013 meanwhile Cambodia, 0.548% in 2013)
  • Household consumption (China, 82.3% in 2011, Cambodia 35.9 in 2011)
  • Share of Industry (China, 43.89% in 2013, Cambodia 25.65% in 2013)
  • Share of Agriculture (China 33.52% in 2013, Cambodia 10.01 in 2013)
  • etc
The margin between China and Cambodia in terms of GDP Per Capita, Inflation, Capital Investment, Human Development, Household Consumption, Share of Industry, Share of Agriculture, and many more represents the economic growth of the two countries. With China having higher percentages in GDP Per Capita, Capital Investment, Human Development, Household Consumption, Share of Industry, Share of Agriculture, and Cambodia with higher inflation for the past 12 years, it is apparent and approved that China has rapid economic growth, meanwhile Cambodia's economic growth has fallen and is stagnant.

What are the Differences of Cambodia and China?

One major difference that can be found between the two countries, are that China is a communism country meanwhile, Cambodia is democratic.

The comparison between communism and democratic are that both these ideologies are very different ideologies. Communism, is a political ideology that is according to ownership, whereas the power comes from the activities made by people, which are controlled by a group of people. On the other hand, Democracy, is a political system controlled by an an elected representative(s) chosen by the people through free and fair elections, where the representatives elected by the people must achieve equalities and wants of the society.

China is a communist country. Chinese Communist Party or CCP is a political party that was found during the year of 1921 by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao. The Chinese Communist Party or CCP had events, for instance they joined the Nationalist Party in 1924, which allowed the opportunity for an alliance to showcase its success. Another example, MaoZedong, was one of the leaders in the Chinese Communist Party or CCP. Whereas, he mostly led (along with CCP) china to two different and largest policies to establish and develop the future of China in terms of Economics and Social; which were called Great Leap Forward & Cultural Revolution. The goal and target for launching the Great Leap Forward was to change China from a Farming Society to a modern industrial society, meanwhile on the other hand the Cultural Revolution was to remove traditional culture in China. However, these two policies failed as it lead to several different consequences; famine, starvation, poor standard of living, and many more. Due to China being a communist country, the labor laws in China have been poor; whereas the workers work as hard as they could have ever worked day in and night out however they receive low standard of living, harsh working conditions (wages), and limited salary.

Meanwhile, Cambodia is a democratic country. Cambodia had its own constitution, called National Assembly was formed as the sixth constitution of Cambodia during the year 1993. The constitution had a minor change in 1999 to build and authorize a senate, which is a part of an assembly but the upper house or chamber. The senate was chaired by Samdech Chea SIm and consists of 62 senators. This constitution declares democracy and multiparty systems of the political regime of Cambodia; Sihanouk for industrial development of Cambodia by encouraging private capital and enterprise with investment, Democratic Kampuchea; genocide, destruction of private capital, and Kingdom of Cambodia; market economy based on foreign markets and investments. There were two political parties in Cambodia; Cambodia People's Party (CPP) and Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP).
